The author’s untimely death in was a serious loss to us all. It was kind of spooky that a phrase would be exactly what I needed for encouragement or clarity in the exact moment that I happened to pick the book up and read a few pages. By filling up their hours and minutes with chatter, they further distance themselves from the spiritual world.

So, the parts that I really liked balanced the parts that I found boring, incoherent, or too flowery. It has gracefully woven itself into my experience ever since, gently guiding and holding me in my darkest days. O’Donohue recognizes the importance of re-connecting words with their underlying reality.
